Qualifying Lead Fails

I am using the online&on-premises version in an on-premises deployment. I have set everything as shown on


However, each time the workflow fails with the error:

If qualifying to opportunity then the parent account or the parent contact is required in the workflow step configuration...

I have also tried to set {Customer(Lead)} on the parent account with the same result. Please note that when I do an Advanced Search on qualified leads (done with the standard qualify function converting to contact, account and opportunity) I do not see Customer(field customerid) set, i.e. it's empty. This might explain why it fails but then again I qualified the lead with the regular qualify function.

I also tried to set Parent Account to Account(Customer(Account)) with the same result. That probably fails for the same reason as above.
