Bulk deactivate question

I created a workflow for bulk deactivate. I want to deactivate all contacts created on a single day by a single user so I put those in the rollup query and it correctly shows those contacts I want to deactivate. This part of the workflow utilities is confusing me. Usually I would put that query into an advanced find and then submit all those records to a workflow that would perform the task for each record.

I'm not sure how to start this process. I have activated the workflow.

Do I start it by submitting a single contact to the workflow?
(was it designed this way with the rollup query inside the workflow step so it can be run against all records that match?)

I answered my own question above. The query is inside so you get around the 250 limit. I've been using the CRM Toolkit Workflow Execution Manager with FetchXML saved from an Advanced Find also to get around the limit.
